Title: European Newspapers Online. An interim report from the Europeana Newspapers Project
Abstract:
The Europeana Newspaper Project (ENP) will make more than 15 mill. newspaper pages available via Europeana, but also via a dedicated website of The European Library (TEL). The project, which is coordinated by the Berlin State Library, sets a focus on enhancing digitised newspapers via Optical Character Processing (OCR) as well as Optical Layout Recognition (OLR). Moreover several workflow tools as well as a uniform format are developed in the project. The presentation will provide a short report on the activities of the project after having achieved the half time milestone.
